Frequently Asked Questions for the Fit for the Ocean Challenge 2026
The challenge runs from April 10 to May 5. You can sign up before April 10, but activity tracking starts when the challenge begins.
The challenge is hosted on OuiRace (sign up here): https://www.ouirace.com/en/campaign/fit-for-the-ocean-challenge-2026
More info about the Challenge: https://www.seashepherdglobal.org/fit-for-the-ocean/
You have two options:
1. Start a fundraiser (start your own challenge)
2. Join an existing fundraising challenge
Both options let you take part, track activity, and raise funds.
On OuiRace, starting a fundraiser means you’re creating your own challenge.
You set a goal, then complete the challenge while sharing it with your community to raise funds.
Joining a challenge means you’re joining a challenge that someone else has already created.
You help the creator:
* hit the activity goal
* raise funds by donating and/or sharing the fundraiser with your own network
Fundraising is a core part of the challenge. You can participate by:
* creating your own fundraiser/challenge and sharing it
* joining someone else’s challenge and helping them raise funds
Any movement counts. Choose what you enjoy:
- Running
- Swimming
- Cycling
- Walking
- Hiking
- Paddling / kayaking
- Gym / training sessions
- Yoga (time-based)
If you can do it safely and track it, it counts.
The minimum goal is to complete 10 km, 10 miles, or 10 hours of activity across the challenge period (April 10–May 5), depending on how you set up your challenge.
Absolutely! You can create a challenge and invite friends/followers to join your team so you can complete the goal together and fundraise as a group.
Once you’re signed up, you can track your activity in OuiRace. Depending on your setup, you may also be able to connect a GPS tracker.
If you’re doing an activity that doesn’t track well via GPS (e.g., yoga), you can log it as time-based activity.
Supporters can donate through your fundraiser challenge page on OuiRace. Sharing your challenge link is the best way to raise funds. Be sure to tell your network why you are doing it, and Sea Shepherd's marine protection mission they'll be supporting.
To be eligible for prizes, you simply need to raise €50 or more.
- Top prize: awarded to the person who raises the most money
- Other prizes: winners are selected through a random drawing from eligible participants
If you are an official ambassador/partner, you cannot win prizes.
However, if somebody from your team hits the minimum raised amount (€50+), they are eligible.
No. You can reach €50 through donations from your community (friends, family, followers, colleagues) by sharing your fundraiser link.
Post anything that helps bring people into the challenge:
* Your sign-up
* Training clips
* Progress updates
* Your fundraiser link
* A call-to-action asking people to donate or join your team
* Pictures/videos of you in action
Use the official hashtag: #FitForTheOcean
